May 26,2009: Ten Old Jobs

Ten Jobs That existed in the early 1900s, but have been eliminated by new technology:

1. Street Sweeper: people with motor driven driven pickup street sweepers would clean the streets of highly urban areas. This started around 1911, and have now been transformed into street sweepers equipped with water tanks and sprayers used to loosen particles and reduce dust. The machines now resemble large truck s are much more efficient. Instead of the street sweeper walking in the street manually using a device to clean the streets, the job has changed to a person who sits in a truck and gathers trash mechanically.

2. Before 1916, when electric lights were more common, people used gas street lamps that had to be manually lit. A person’s job would be to go around and light the street lamps, however the job does not exist anymore because we have advance to an electrical lighting system.

3. Coal tender on a steam locomotive: A tender or a rail car was a steamed vehicle hauled by a steam locomotive containing wood, coal or oil. Many jobs people had to take routine jobs in maintaining the coal car. These jobs do not exist anymore, because the tender does not exist anymore.

4.Typewriter: People used to work as typewriters, this jobs has been eliminated by computers and other writing technologies.

5. Milkboy/milkgirl; this job was in the early 1900s, but as technology advanced, the need for a person to fetch the milk became less necessary.

6. Iceman: The job of an icemen was needed in the 1900s, but as the years went on, this job was not as important because of the other devices to get/make ice.

7. Cheese girl: This job is not present in our society today, because we have become more efficient with retrieving and making cheese.

8. Telephone operator: A telephone operator is not a job that has persisted through the years, because, we now have many other resources in the calling/communicating world.

9. Blacksmiths: Today blacksmiths our different from the way they used to be

10. jobs in manufacturing: Jobs in manufracturing have changed since the early 1900s from advancements in our technology

May 19,2009- Sexting

1. Sexting is sending dirty pictures to a person on their phone and that person can distribute those pictures to a lot of people and their can be many problems with people sending the pictures around.

2. Sexting is dangerous because when people receive an inappropriate picture from a minor and they send it around, they can be arrested for having distributing pornography and for having a relationship with a minor.Also the people who have had their violated pictures spread out to many of their friends, get teased and called a lot of bad names and sometimes these people commit suicide.

4. I wouldn’t trust my friends with violating pictures of myself, just because sending any inappropriate pictures to anyone could release my pictures out in the open, and even if my friends wouldn’t send them to people, they would still be out there. I have some friends that violate my trust but they would never distribute dirty pictures of their friends.

5. There are many dangers to sexting, like having the people missuses the picture. When people send the revealing pictures to a lot of people, the law can get involved and the person who sent the pictures is personally affected. Sexting can also be used as a dangerous weapon to force people to do things they don’t want to do. People can threat to send the dirty pictures if a person doesn’t do something they want them to do and People can threat to do something to a person if they don’t send dirty pictures to them.

May 15, 2009- Spectacular Pictures on the web.

This image denotes a storm passing by over a flowered meadow. There is a layer a fog crowing over white and pink flowers and grass. The time of the photo looks like it was taken sometime in evening as the sun i going down and the sunset hangs high in the sky. I think this picture because it captures the pure beauty of that moment when the storm has just passes. I think this picture is very beautiful and special.

This picture is spectacular because the sky overwhelms the photo and takes complete control of the picture. The sky looks like its taking over and even though the sky is dark, the picture is overwhelming and spectacular.

This image is spectacular because not only does it show the crazy lights of a city, the way the lights are reflected on the water makes the picture spectacular. The lights appear on the water unchanged and they make the water look like it is a rainbow. This shows how spectacular water is and how pretty colors can reflect on the water.

This is picture that shows the sky to look spectacular. The sky almost looks like its on fire and the clouds are arranged in clusters with different shades of burnt orange, yellow and red. I like this photo, because is confuses me and it the fiery tint of the sky scares me yet is beautiful.

I like this photo because it shows the beauty of the sky from the perspective of a bare tree. The sky is illuminated in a red color going out into pink, then blue, then purple. The tree is colorless and is only illuminated with the colors of the sky. This image is truly spectacular.
