The French Government isĀ  expected to display new measures this week to shore up The French Banking system following a meeting between the president Nicolas Sarkozy and the country’s chief bankers.

France and India have signed a major nuclear deal during the Indian’s prime minister visit to Paris, France. The agreements makes it possible for the sale of French nuclear reactors to New Delhi. Currently India, doesn’t have enough energy to fuel their booming economy, however they now holdĀ  anew position in the nuclear world today, when they signed a landmark atomic energy pact with France.

The number of jobless people in France has sky rocketed since 1993. Their number of unemployed citizens led to the country having to hold a mandatory meeting on Monday. The French president said that he was fully prepared to take this issue farther and take further measures to boost growth despite a minute budget.

Former employment minister, Gerard Larcher has been elected to the presidency of the French senate. The makes Gerard the successor if the current president in event of death of resignation. Gerard Larcher is a member of the Conservative UMP party that controls both the senate and the lower house national assembly.

The Paris car show, a glamorous display of some of the finest automobiles, was held recently. However, the glamor of the event was saddened by the currant finical crisis. The car show had 362 marques from 25 different countries.

A French investigative writer, was put on trial for inciting racial hatred in a Rwanda book . The book describes the Rwandan genocide and talked about ethic Tutis as prone to deceit and lying.

About 3,000 restaurants went bust in France in the first quarter of 2008 as the current economic downturn and the recently approved smoking ban changes people’s eating habits. Recently, the French have been likely to cut back on their restaurant visits leaving many restaurants our of business.

French Prime minister Francois Fillon called for a ” national unity” to face the currant economic and finical melt down. He says that this type of horrible crisis only occurs once of twice in a century.

Paris unveiled plans to build a high rise pyramid-shaped tower southwest of the capitol. This is the first high rise building in 30 years that has been built in the French capitol.

The President of the the France Olympic committee announced that France will bid for the 2018 winter Olympics. They will compete to host these Olympics and the country hosting will be revealed to the public in March 2009.
